What: Kid’s Info Bits is an online resource for “beginning researchers in kindergarten through grade 5″.
When and Where: Whenever you like! This database is available inside the library and from home with a library card. Last minute report? No problem! Log into Kid’s Info Bits and your child will be able to complete their research, print out pictures and get all of the information they need in one spot.
Why: Children are often required to use a credible online resource at an early age for a report. Kid’s Info Bits provides great information on states, countries, animals, social studies, history and more! The format is easy for children to use on their own. Information is marked with two different symbols to differentiate reading levels between “easy” and “more difficult”. The main page for each topic has colorful and easy to recognize icons which make searching even easier. There is also a “Teacher Toolbox” with worksheets to download and lessons about researching topics and citing sources.
How: Go to tularepubliclibrary.org and select Research and Databases, then select Kid’s InfoBits. You can also find this database by selecting the “Children’s Services Tab”, “Links for Kids” and then the Kid’s InfoBits image.
