Staff reports: 
September looks to be an interesting month at the Tulare Public Library, with activities planned for all ages.Here’s a look at upcoming events at the Tulare Public Library:

  • Weekly events: The library will continue its story time for children at 10:15 a.m. Mondays and its Early Learning with Families, or ELF, time at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

It’s free and parents are invited to bring their children.

  • Sept. 6: Friends of the Tulare Public Library’s used-book sale is from 10 a.m. to noon at the library, 113 North F St. Books are $3 per bag and proceeds benefit the library.
  • Sept. 20: Tulare READ adult-literacy program will have a training session for community members interested in becoming tutors. Tulare READ helps adults improve their reading and English skills by pairing them with volunteer tutors from the community. Teaching experience is not required to be a tutor.

  • Sept. 26: The library will offer a class, “Intro to the Internet,” for beginners from 9-10 a.m. Call 685-8146 to reserve a seat.
  • Sept. 27: Tulare READ will hold a yard-sale fundraiser from 7-11 a.m. Donations will be accepted for the yard sale beginning Sept. 22. Information: 685-8146.
  • Side note: Librarian Heidi Clark would like to thank the anonymous donor who gave 10 stuffed animals, all characters from the movie “Bug’s Life,” for children at last week’s showing of the movie at the library.

INFORMATION

The Tulare Public Library is at 113 North F St. The library opens at 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday and closes at 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, at 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library is closed on Sundays. Information: 685-2341.
